You may already have noticed “L’Empreinte,” a little gem of a bag with a sculptural handle, worn by Princess Charlène of Monaco, or its monumental version on the facade of 352, rue Saint-Honoré in Paris. Recognizable among all others, this creation is a real masterpiece signed LÉTRANGE, an outstanding independent French leatherware firm created in 1838. Taken over by Sébastien Létrange, of the founding family’s 7th generation, it has won the hearts of fans of quiet luxury in just a few years. Sébastien and his Art Director Mathias Jaquemet have designed six decidedly contemporary models of handbags with a clear, forward-looking vision - Heritage with a Twist. Among them, "VisàVis" is an archetype in the art of leatherware. It pays vibrant homage to the origins of its founder, Auguste Lespiaut, who opened his saddler’s workshop in 1838, in the stables of the Palais du Louvre.
Perfectly symmetrical, the "VisàVis" sees double. The exceptional feature of this creation lies in its construction benefiting from expert craftsmanship both rare and exclusive: a piece of leather, folded and stitched by hand, crowned by a flap “astride,” whose profile evokes a saddle with lateral flaps like stirrups. A reference to its name, once designating a 2-seater carriage in which the passengers sat face to face.
Available in two sizes, in smooth or grained calfskin, and a wide choice of colours, the “VisàVis” meets all desires. And while undoubtedly the most "saddle-like" of LÉTRANGE bags, it remains practical and perfectly designed for the everyday lives of today’s women: its numerous compartments contain and organize all their personal belongings. With a removable strap adorned with two engraved solitaires - a reference to the firm’s saddle nails - it can be carried or worn off the shoulder or across the body.
