Eco-responsibility is everywhere, especially in our homes. Pursuing this goal, ecological materials are especially popular. Among essentials, wood comes as no surprise - as long as it comes from sustainably managed forests. Then comes cork, valued for its bio-degradability, then steel and copper, endlessly recyclable. The number of initiatives undertaken by professionals has grown significantly these past few years, to propose new solutions and meet growing consumer demand for more sustainable interiors.
The origins of materials, whether they can be recycled, and their carbon footprint are some of the criteria taken into account. A few years ago, French designer Philippe Starck came up with a sofa for Cassina made of Apple Ten Lork, a "leather" based on apples. An effort now pursued by the famous Italian manufacturer with its Cassina LAB, offering solutions for innovative and steadfastly sustainable designs. A 100 % recycled fiber obtained from recycling PET plastic bottles, mostly recovered from the sea, has thus been integrated into cushion padding for new editions of its iconic "LC2" and "LC3" armchairs designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand.
In France, many initiatives have been launched in this area. Porcelain specialist Revol was the world's first manufacturer to present a 100% recycled tableware collection. To do so, it perfected Recyclay, a paste entirely made from its manufacturing sludge. The result is impressive!
As for NOMA home decor, it has made eco-design its signature. Entrusted to renowned designers, its line of high-end, responsible, contemporary furniture is mostly made of recycled and bio-sourced materials. Something to give your home a new personality while taking good care of the planet!
